We have options for you to consider, if you need to know the identity of your baby's father
Paternity questions often involve sensitive situations. At DDC, we understand your concerns and have specially trained, caring specialists to help you determine the type of paternity testing that you will need.
Establishing paternity is important for your peace of mind, as well as to ensure social and legal benefits for the child.
There are several options that you can take:
Prenatal Paternity Testing
This option allows you to find out if a man is the child's father before birth. This could be helpful as you make future plans for the baby. It requires a CVS or amnio sample, taken by an OB GYN. You can find out the answer 5 days after the samples are sent to the laboratory.
Paternity Testing at Birth
Through this option, your doctor can take a non-invasive and painless cheek swab from the newborn, or send us a cord blood sample. You can find out the answer in as little as 1 day after the samples are received in our laboratory (3 days for standard testing).
Paternity Testing When You Go Home
At any time after you leave the hospital, you can opt for a paternity test either at one of our convenient locations or using a home sample collection kit.
